The Death Of Autumn
When reeds are dead and a straw to thatch the marshes,
And feathered pampas-grass rides into the wind
Like aged warriors westward, tragic, thinned
Of half their tribe, and over the flattened rushes,
Stripped of its secret, open, stark and bleak,
Blackens afar the half-forgotten creek,—
Then leans on me the weight of the year, and crushes
My heart. I know that Beauty must ail and die,
And will be born again,—but ah, to see
Beauty stiffened, staring up at the sky!
Oh, Autumn! Autumn!—What is the Spring to me?
Edna St. Vincent Millay
Such lovely colours 🙂

Great array of photos, Mitza! Very nice indeed! The photos and the poem – with it’s question – make one think of E.E.Cummings’ fine poem of “Spring is like a perhaps hand.”
Spring is like a perhaps hand
(which comes carefully
out of Nowhere)arranging
a window,into which people look(while
people stare
arranging and changing placing
carefully there a strange
thing and a known thing here)and
changing everything carefully
spring is like a perhaps
Hand in a window
(carefully to
and fro moving New and
Old things,while
people stare carefully
moving a perhaps
fraction of flower here placing
an inch of air there)and
without breaking anything.

Beautiful colours. I like how the blues, pinks, and purples blend in the hydrangea(?) blossom.

I myself get sad in autumn. Can’t stand the months without sun and flowers. Did you have storm and lots of rain in Austria, too? I nearly forgot how the sun is looking. Wish you a successful week, too, Alexandra. Have fun in Vienna, warm regards Mitza

I can totally feel you… We had really strong wind but not as much rain as it was expected, which is actually good! Now it’s colder again but sunny…it’s been really sunny until now, so i can’t complain! People were preparing me for long dark and cloudy days…but until now they have been rare! 😀

Even though Hamburg is the most beautiful town in the world, it has the worst weather. It has been dark for weeks and it rains already for 100 million years, it feels. Be happy that you live more in the south. Have a lot of sunny days in your life, Alexandra, warm regards Mitza

Most impressive collection and at the same time the most beautiful flower photos I have seen this new year! The quality of the images is outstanding, love how the shots in some places is sharp in others soft and blurred! Heavenly colors, shapes and designs, Mother Nature is the most perfect artist and you deliver that beauty to us perfectly! Have a most wonderful week!~Eva

Dear Eva, your comment was music to my ears (for instance Tchaikovsky’s “hymn of the cherubim”). Thanks a lot for your wonderful and moving words. I made these photos with my new camera and 2 lenses, about 9 diopter by hand, therefore it’s sometimes sharp and then blurred. The beauty of nature is the thing that moves me most of all others in this world and it seems I have transmitted this feeling to a very sensitive person, i.e. you. Have a wonderful week, too, regards Mitza
