Usually the sun is shining in Greece and everything looks colorful and bright. When the sun goes down, it’s otherwhiles turning everything into fluent red-gold or into a dove colored velvet. I have photographed the sun at different times of the day and in different weather. I was occasionally overwhelmed by the beauty of the shining sun, when a bundle of sunbeams was falling into the sea behind an old lighthouse, when the sun was sending a last warmish goodbye on grey mountains or made huge butterflies tumble along in a forlorn love-dance in the hot midday sun. The shining of the sun makes the world beautiful and vivid. All these photos are from Kefalonia/ Greece.
We are watching a series on PBS about a family (Durrells) who moved from England to Corfu. Is Corfu similar to Kefalonia?

yes, Judie, Corfu is nearly the same like Kefalonia regarding landscape, flora and fauna etc. Virtual hugs Mitza

Well, no wonder you love it so much! But it does look like the temperatures and humidity are fairly high – much like South Florida, where I spent 36 years!

As far as I know it has a very dry Mediterranean climate and not much humidity. Virtual hugs Mitza

hi Mitza, yes. there is ( i feel) a yearning…. and I don’t blame you!! at all.
Greece, Kefalonia would be a great place. I guess, we can only try – to make ourselves as warm. or cool. as we possibly can, in the environment we are – abiding in, at this time. maybe it won’t be forever. That, is what i tell myself 🙂

Your post on your beloved Greek island reads like a poem, Mitza. I especially love the expression “the bundles of sunbeams” describing your last image. Oh, how I ‘d wish the sun would be providing only half the warmth and light for our dreary landscape here in Canada. October has been the rainiest month in the last 30 years.

Yes, Peter, that’s exactly what I’m longing for: sun and warmth. Our October was quite okay, but November is the worst month in Hamburg. Hope you get a little sun at this weekend, kind regards from Hamburg, Mitza

Thank you for your kind reply! November is also a bad month here in BC. But October has been a real disappointment. Normally, we can enjoy what they call an Indian summer, where the nights are crisp and the days are sunny. Have a great Sunday!

I especially like the lighthouse, Mitza! And i, being an avid fossil hunter, can’t help but wonder if there are fossils in those precipice areas. Either way, it sure is a most beautiful place! 🙂

The lighthouse is really wonderful (it’s from 1902 I think) and is situated ar a very remote place that looks a bit like the end of the world. We have been completely lonely there, which I enjoy a lot. As I told you before, I found a lot of fossils in the last years, some in 200 m heigth and some inside the island some kilometers, which shows that the island has risen by enormous earth movements from the sea. That’s really very interesting to me:)

Thank you, dear Agnes. I’m happy you liked it. My second first name is Thalia, which is the muse of poetry. Funny, isn’t it? Regards Mitza

The muse of poetry, how nice. the Muse of comedy and idyllic poetry. Did you know that it is also the name of a plant, as far as I know it is a type of Arrowroot plant, nice leaves and orchid-like flowers. I once bought this Thalia root/tuber in the supermarket and promptly put it in a pot to grow, it made a lovely houseplant and I had it for quite a while – never saw the tuber again since.

No, I didn’t know that. I think there is a beautiful narcissus with the name of Thalia which has a wonderful smell.
