“We must become so alone, so utterly alone, that we withdraw into our innermost self. It is a way of bitter suffering. But then our solitude is overcome, we are no longer alone, for we find that our innermost self is the spirit, that it is God, the indivisible. And suddenly we find ourselves in the midst of the world, yet undisturbed by its multiplicity, for our innermost soul we know ourselves to be one with all being.”
― Hermann Hesse

A quote that inspires me to reflect from an inner perspective on the meaning of life and how to grasp it in the painful process of utter solitude! The accompanying photos strengthen what Hesse so beautifully stated. I assume that they had been taken on your beloved island off the Greek mainland. Many greetings from BC, Canada, where we are being plagued by one snow storm after another!

Thanks a lot for your nice comment, Peter. You are completely right, all these photos are from Kefalonia, where you still can find places of solitude, which I love a lot.
In all Europe, including Greece it has been very cold this winter, so that vegetables have become quite expensive and nearly rare. Kind regards from Hamburg, Mitza
