About

Hello, welcome to my new blog. This blog is the follow-up of dreimalkunst.wordpress.com which is still worth visiting. My name is Mitza. I have a lot of artistic hobbies and would like to share them with you. I started drawing in my early childhood. Many years later I studied art (illustration) for 4 years.

As a young girl I became fond of jewellery. Since many, many years I visit flea-markets and collect old jewellery. Some years ago I had the opportunity to study the art of goldsmithery by a latvian master. Since then I design and do jewellery with silver, fine-gold and various precious stones myself.

In my past-time I love to photograph. With my little camera I walk around in our garden in order to look at all the beautiful flowers from up close and to photograph them. Some of my photos also show the Greek island Kephalonia.

Many years ago I visited an exhibition about old Egyptian burial objects. The thought that somebody had created something so beautiful such a long time ago and that I could look at it so many thousand years later, fascinated me. In my imagination I saw a person sitting in the desert creating a piece of art, and I thought an artist can leave a footprint behind.

Regarding visual arts and photography I like to illustrate the decay and lonelyness, because it really touches me. Beauty is decaying but in decay there can be beauty, too. Regarding my jewellery, drawings, paintings and photographs I always take care about a good composition. To know about the  “golden ratio” is the most important tool for me.

    • Thanks for this hint. I don’t know if I can find it here. I like Egyptian music, I even had an old record from Oum-Koultoum (don’t know how your write her name, she was very famous many years ago), melancholy etc. It’s always good to find people with same interests or who know more about something. • Her name is transliterated into English in more ways than we can count. 😉 She came from a farm family, knew the landscape cycles, appreciated the hard work and the beauty in the landscape. She communicated that depth of beauty and emotion in her songs.

      • Seems as if she was some kind of a “blues”-singer, but I remember most of the songs delt with love (she always sang the word “chabibi” – my lover) Good old memories of my youth.

  1. She sang songs of the heart–hardships, pleasures and uncertainties of life–joy and sorrow. Virginia Danielson studied and wrote quite a bit about Om Khaltoum’s life and songs. Om Khaltoum was the voice and heart of Egypt for decades. I first heard her on the medina streets of Morocco in the early 1970s–every shop keeper had a radio and most had her songs blasting out into the street–couldn’t miss and even without knowing the language–her voice and music…sigh…such compelling emotion. I look for the same in plants, gardens, landscapes. Foolish? Not at all because I see that you capture a special emotion from your photos and your art work is full of that inspiration. Thanks for sharing.

    • It was about at the same time that I was in Israel and heard this music in my little radio and liked it immediately, even though the people around me didn’t appreciate it. I went to the Westbank by taxi. Driving through this arid landscape with this music was an unforgettable moment in my life. Thank you for writing that my art work has a special emotion and is full of inspiration. Not many feel it and see it but a few. It’s a pleasure to share my art. Have a wonderful day, regards Mitza
