A little art

Dear friends of my blog, followers and viewers,

It’s now more than 5 years that I joined the wordpress “family” and found some wonderful friends here. I have taken a lot of efforts to show you my world in paintings, jewelry, photos, poetry and poems. I specially enjoy writing in English, but it’s not my mother tongue.  A lot of wonderful comments and mental support in sad times have shown me that my efforts were acknowledged and that was the best reward for me.

I usually enjoy looking at all the posts from a lot of nice people every day, but it surely does take a lot of time. My day must be planned in minutes because of all the things I have to do like usual housework, shopping, cooking, gym, biking, arts etc. I have to bike 10 km per day because I have “restless legs” which leads to a lot of sleepless nights and some kind of exhaustion. Additionally, I have just started a very creative period, and it takes time to be creative. I can only decide to look at the things others do or being creative myself. I am sure that you will understand that I cannot comply with both. Being creative is somehow the most important thing in my life; it means so much to me. I can only express myself by my arts and thus it has a very high value for me. Please do understand that I need some more time for myself and don’t be sad or disappointed if I don’t look into your posts regularly. I hope for your understanding.

I want to show you below the things I have done lately. I usually painted in a more or less photorealistic way and now I have tried to paint in a more abstract way in acrylic colors,  which was quite difficult for me. Some of my paintings came out of my sub consciousness and have a special meaning, i.e. describing relations I have. I will add two of my elder paintings so that you can see the difference. For Xmas I made several bookmarks out of ebony and silver as presents for my family. And additionally I did some new jewelry from Sterling silver with lapis lazuli, moonstone, agate, amethyst etc. etc.

I want to thank all of you for your support of my blog, and hope that I will find the opportunity from time to time to look into your posts. Best wishes for all of you. Kind regards Mitza

A little handicraft

Dear friends of my blog, after a long time without art (due to lack of space), I have started a little handicraft which always makes me very happy and I would like to share this with you.

Some months ago a friend gave me an old, quite nostalgic chip box. I had it in my cellar and always thought, it would be nice to paint it. Unfortunately there was a sticker in the middle which I couldn’t remove completely. But I found a solution, I painted a heart in the middle so you can’t see it anymore. I painted some spring flowers in a kind of wreath on the chip box. I’m more an illustrator with pencils than a painter but some time ago I bought some cheap acryllic colors to widen my abilities.

Right now I’m sewing a lot, too. I visit thrift shops regularly and sometimes find nice fabrics for 1 Euro which I transfer into shopping bags so that we don’t need any plastic bags. I think they are quite nice looking and they are nice presents for friends, too.

To draw or not to draw

Some weeks ago I went to a garage sale. I didn’t really find anything I urgently needed or wanted until in the last corner of the garage I saw an old frame from art nouveau time (around 1900). I was a bit “shocked” because there was a photo of Frank Zappa in it. It was a little collision of two things that didn’t really fit together. But I must admit that I was a big fan of Frank Zappa when I was younger and so I had a friendly and competent conversation with another Frank Zappa fan. He actually didn’t intend to sell the frame but somehow he felt a little sympathy for me and sold it to me for 5 Euros. I was very happy because it is quite cheap for such a wonderful old frame and I collect frames (I have 200 old frames in my flat). I repaired it a bit by myself.  The frame only had one disadvantage: it had a very extraordinary size. I have a few old copper engravings but none of them fit into that frame. So I had to draw something myself. I was thinking a few sleepless nights about the object. Finally I took a feather from a wild turkey that I found some time ago, because it is oblong, too. Then I took out some brown paper in order to have a little shabby old look,  my colored pencils as well as some white and black acrylic colors. You can see the steps of my work up to the passe-partout and the montage into the frame. I think this was a good solution. What do you think?
